At the previous 2025 National Indoor Athletics Grand Prix (2nd leg) men's 60m hurdles, Liu Junxi set a personal best of 7.53 seconds to win and qualify for the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships to be held in Nanjing this March. This achievement also places Liu Junxi second in the history of Chinese men's 60m hurdles.

"Today's condition was great, and I performed well. Competing at home makes it even more exciting," said Liu Junxi, after setting a new personal best on home ground.
