In 7 days, Nanjing is about to become the focus of world athletics. At the event, more than 700 top athletes from more than 150 countries and regions around the world will gather by the Yangtze River to compete fiercely. With 26 events over three days, the World Championships are sure to present an athletics feast.
A total of 26 events have been set up at the World Championships, with 13 events for men and 13 for women. From March 21 to 23, there will be six competition units in the morning and evening, and the 26 gold medals will be crowned one by one. Morning events are mainly preliminary competitions, with only a few finals scheduled, while most of the exciting finals and award ceremonies are in the evening.
Compared with outdoor athletics competitions, indoor events are smaller in scale, but the tracks are compact, the events are concentrated, and the competition is more suspenseful and spectacular.
On the morning of March 21, the men's triple jump will witness the first gold, and Burkina Faso's Zango will compete with a group of masters; at the same time, the “Battle of Flyers” of the men's 60m preliminaries will also be held, and the audience can enjoy a feast. The evening will be even more exciting, with the champions of men's high jump, women's shot put, men's 60m final and women's pentathlon being announced one after another, marking the first peak of gold medal awarding in the competition.
On March 22, “defending the title” and “breaking records” will be the key words. In the women's pole vault final in the morning, Great Britain's Cowdery will face the challenge from American athletes; In the evening, Sweden's Duplantis will strive to win his third World Indoor Championships title, while St. Lucia's Alfred will go all out to defend her championship in the women's 60m final.
March 23 is the last day, and the “Twelve Golden Feasts” will be staged. In the morning, the long jump showdown between Germany's Mihambo and the United States' Tara Davis-Woodhall has drawn much attention. In the evening, 10 gold medals will be unveiled in a row. The men's and women's 4×400-meter relays, which serve as the grand finale, will push the atmosphere of the event to its climax with team efforts. Among them, the Dutch team, as the reigning champions of the indoor World Championships, will face the Olympic champion United States team. The two teams have staged spectacular competitions recently, and this battle for gold in Nanjing is also highly anticipated.
Nanjing is ready! When the competition begins, Nanjing will use the “Cube”venue as a stage to prove to the world that sports are not only competitions, but also spiritual exchanges across national borders. No matter who wins the gold medal, this athletics feast will surely go down in the history of world athletics.
