On March 21, the World Athletics Indoor Championships Nanjing 25 officially kicked off. In the first round of the men’s 800m, Chinese athlete XI Xiaoheng finished seventh in his heat with a time of 1:48.06, setting a new personal best and successfully advancing to the semifinals.

Earlier this year, XI won the men’s 1500m title at the National Indoor Athletics Grand Prix in Jinan, marking a strong start to the season. He later claimed back-to-back 800m titles at the Nanjing leg of the Grand Prix and the National Indoor Championships. Reflecting on his performance, XI said, “Breaking my PB today was just a normal performance. My next goal is to go under 1:48 and fight for the top spot!”

XIalso shared his impressions of competing in Nanjing again, describing it as “a completely new experience”. “The venue setup and atmosphere are fantastic. I’m looking forward to performing even better in the upcoming races!”
