On the evening of March 22, 2025 (Beijing time), the women’s 3000m final took place at the World Athletics Indoor Championships Nanjing 25. Ethiopia’s Freweyni Hailu claimed the gold medal with a time of 8:37.21. American runner Shelby Houlihan finished second in 8:38.26, while Australia’s Jessica Hull took bronze with 8:38.28.
“I really enjoyed today’s race,” said Jessica Hull in a post-race interview. “I knew the last 400 meters would be tough, and I was prepared for that. I gave it my all.” She also shared her impression of Nanjing, calling it a beautiful city: “Especially when the sun sets and the city lights come on, the scenery is truly stunning.”
China’s LI Yuan set a personal best in this race. “It was okay, but I’m not entirely satisfied with my performance,” she said. “I might have started too fast, which caused me to slow down a lot later. But I never gave up. I just kept running.” Competing against top international athletes, she found it easier to push her limits and recognized the gap she still needs to close. Looking ahead, she’s determined to train harder: “I’ll focus on preparing for the National Games and aim for a top-five or even top-three finish.”
