On March 22 (Beijing time), the second day of the World Athletics Indoor Championships Nanjing 25 unfolded with intense competition. In the women’s 400m final, British sprinter Amber Anning emerged victorious, while Alexis Holmes from the United States and Henriette Jæger from Norway secured silver and bronze, respectively.
Anning delivered an outstanding performance, crossing the finish line first with a time of 50.60 seconds. “I pushed all the way to the end and never gave up, so I’m really proud of myself,” Anning said in her post-race interview. She credited her teammates’ strong performances for motivating her to give her best effort, ultimately leading to her gold-medal finish. Reflecting on her experience in Nanjing, she praised the event’s organization: “The competition has been very well-organized. The hotel and venue arrangements are excellent, and we’ve been warmly welcomed and taken great care of.”
Bronze medalist Henriette Jæger, who clocked 50.92 seconds, also expressed her joy: “I’m really happy. Of course, I wanted gold, but I’m satisfied with bronze as well.” Speaking about her impression of Nanjing, she had nothing but praise: “I really love Nanjing. It’s such a beautiful city! I have a rest day tomorrow, so I plan to explore more of it.”
