Gudaf Tsegay Wins Women’s 1500m with Dominant 3:54.86, Ethiopian Duo Shines

On March 23(Beijing time), the final day of the World Athletics Indoor Championships Nanjing 25, the highly anticipated women’s 1500m final took place. Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay claimed gold in 3:54.86, setting a new championship record. Her teammate Diribe Welteji secured silver with 3:59.30, while Georgia Hunter Bell from Great Britain took bronze with a personal best of 3:59.84. Georgia Griffith of Australia also set a new continental record, finishing fourth in 4:00.80.

As soon as the race started, the athletes sprinted off the line. Ethiopia’s Tsegay and Welteji quickly took control, showing both strength and teamwork. Tsegay, the world record holder, established an early lead with her powerful pace. She maintained a steady rhythm before accelerating in the final stretch, crossing the finish line in an impressive 3:54.86. Welteji followed closely behind, securing silver in 3:59.30. Bell finished strong, setting a new personal best of 3:59.84 to take bronze.
